The Society is building an archive of photographs, artefacts, documents and maps relevant to Thorner and its rich and varied history.

In 2012 the Society was awarded a grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund “All Our Stories” to digitise its archive and the Society is currently transferring all of its photographs, postcards etc on to a digital database which is stored on the Society’s computer. The photographs date from the late 1800’s and contain numerous views of Main Street, St Peters Church, the Chapels, Thorner Victory Hall, Thorner Station, the Pubs and various portraits of people. The Society will be showing the archive at every possible occasion to give the wider community access to the archive records.

Over time we will be adding images from the Archive Computer to this Website to allow anyone on the Web to access its records.
